DON/MDS responsablities but not limit to:

Plan, develop organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing servicedeparment, as well ad its programs and activies, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the nursing care facilities.

Develop, maintain and periodacally update writtien policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service deparment.

Assist the Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to  correct identified deficiencies.

Assist the Discharge Planning Coordinator in developing, implementing and periodacally updating the written procedures for the Discharge Planning Program.

Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, sharting, etd., as necessary.

Conduct and coordinate the development and completion of the residents assessment (MDS) in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the resident assessment, including the implementation of RAPs and Trigggers.

Monitor the facilitys QI and QM reports to ensure that appropiate corrective action can be implemented when potential problems areas occur.

Evaluate each residents condition and pertinent medical data to detemine any need for special assessment activies or a need to amend the admission assessment.

Ensure that a complete resident assessment is conducted within fourteen days of a significant change in the residents condition.
